Hiking the Flume Trail at the Weimar Institute in Weimar, California was quite a surprise. Not sure why this wooden trellis was made this way. Perhaps it is to keep out larger animals who might knock the entire structure over.

Yes, I also thought it was the trail at first from a distance. I didn't like the idea of walking across! Then I saw that it wasn't the trail at all and was very relieved! Thanks, Laurie!
